Introduction

The Rose of Sharon is one of the most recognized flowers in biblical imagery. In the Song of Songs, it is used as a symbol of beauty and love. In Victorian floriography, the rose represents deep affection, devotion, and admiration. To give a Rose of Sharon is to say: “I cherish you. I am devoted to you. You bring beauty and delight into my life.”

This flower invites us to reflect on love — God’s love for us, our love for Him, and the beauty of faithful love expressed in our relationships.

?

Scripture Focus

Song of Songs 2:1 – “I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys.”

Jeremiah 31:3 – “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”

1 Corinthians 13:7 – “Love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

?

Reflection

The Rose of Sharon whispers God’s promise: His love for you is everlasting, constant, and faithful. Just as the rose blooms with beauty in unexpected places, His love blossoms in your life — sometimes quietly, sometimes dramatically, but always faithfully.

To receive or give this flower is to declare: “I am deeply affectionate toward you. I am devoted to you. Your presence brings joy and delight.”

The Rose of Sharon calls us to remember that love is not just a fleeting emotion but a faithful, enduring commitment.
