Devotional: Strength for the Journey

0

When life feels overwhelming, God promises the strength we need to keep going. This devotional reminds us that endurance is not found in ourselves, but in the One who walks with us every step of the way.

Scripture:

“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” — 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

Reflection:

Too often, we separate the spiritual from the physical, as though God only cares about prayer, worship, and inner growth. But the truth is, He created our bodies as vessels of His Spirit. Every breath, every step, every heartbeat is a gift meant to be stewarded.

Taking care of your body isn’t vanity — it’s worship. When you strengthen your body, you are preparing yourself for the assignments God has for you. When you nourish yourself with healthy food, you are fueling your temple so it can carry His presence. When you rest well, you are trusting that He is God, and you don’t have to burn yourself out to prove your worth.

Just as David danced with abandon before the Lord, and Paul trained like a runner pursuing the prize, we too are invited to embrace the joy of movement, strength, and vitality as part of our faith.

Takeaway:

Today, think of one small step you can take to honor God with your body. Maybe it’s a walk, maybe it’s choosing water instead of soda, maybe it’s stretching or resting. Every act of care for your body is a way of saying: “Lord, this temple belongs to You.”

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for this body that You’ve given me. Teach me to see it as a gift, not a burden. Help me steward it with wisdom, discipline, and joy, so that I may be strong for the journey You’ve set before me. Amen.
