Pray for Scotland is a prayer network for revival that seeks to bring unity in the Body of Christ through prayer across denominations and church groups. They seek to encourage the mobilization of God’s people to pray for revival in the church and for the transformation of society in Scotland.

Pray for Scotland grew out of the ministry of David and Jean Black, who in 1999 started ‘The Scottish Prayer Centre’. In 2002 another prayer ministry called ‘Rise Up And Pray combined with The Scottish Prayer Centre and the new ministry became known as ‘Pray for Scotland’.
Pray for Scotland is a small group of volunteers from different parts of Scotland and different church backgrounds who share a passion to see the Church in Scotland united in praying for the nation. They are a Scottish Charity led by Trustees and a Core Team. They link with ‘key contacts’ throughout the nation who share our vision and desire to see prayer saturate this nation.
Pray for Scotland seeks to encourage, network & support prayer across the nation through:
- providing prayer guides and manuals,
- arranging conferences, leaders’ gatherings and training events, and
- personal networking both at grass roots and at leadership level in churches and other organisations with a vision for prayer in the nation.
In recent years Pray for Scotland has strengthened the network of prayer groups, in particular connecting the nation in prayer through the 50 days of ‘Connecting Scotland’ in 2007. Building on this foundation they continue to initiate Lighthouses of Prayer – local individuals or groups praying for their streets and communities – and they partner with other ministries and churches in national prayer initiatives such as ‘The Big If…’ in 2010 and the St Andrews National Days of Prayer in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
In 2014, along with many churches and ministries they helped co-ordinate prayer for the Commonwealth Games and the Queen’s Baton tour of the nation. Also in 2014 they co-ordinated 40 days of prayer before the Referendum, including arranging for 16 denominational and ministry leaders to ‘sign’ a joint letter to the church supporting the prayer call – the first time so many church leaders have publicly signed a joint prayer call. In 2015 they again co-ordinated prayer for the UK elections and in 2016 they again promoted and co-ordinated prayer for the elections to the Scottish Parliament, and for the EU Referendum (as part of a UK-wide prayer call).
According to Pray for Scotland, “We believe that ‘Prayer changes things!’ and that God’s Kingdom moves forward on our prayers. Join us as we pray for this nation to be united again under God!”
