The pomegranate blossom bursts forth in vibrant red-orange petals, signaling the abundance to come. Later, these blossoms mature into fruit heavy with seeds — a symbol of fertility, blessing, and renewal. In Israel’s tradition, the pomegranate became a picture of overflowing life and sacred fruitfulness.

In the Victorian language of flowers, the pomegranate blossom symbolized prosperity, fertility, and abundance. To give it was to say: “May your life overflow with blessing.” Its rich color and plentiful seeds spoke of thriving life, flourishing in every direction.

The pomegranate adorned the robes of the high priest and the Temple itself (1 Kings 7:18), reminding Israel that God’s presence is tied to fruitfulness and blessing. In Jewish tradition, the pomegranate is also linked to Rosh Hashanah, where it is said to have 613 seeds — representing the commandments and God’s fullness of blessing for the year ahead.
