Early reports suggest traffickers who entered Stonebriar Community Church were not acting alone—they were attempting to recruit church members and build a local procurement network. This preliminary investigation examines the early warning signs and raises urgent questions about how far the operation spread.

DALLAS, TX—Early eyewitness accounts and survivor testimony indicate that when traffickers entered Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco, Texas, they did not come merely to target vulnerable congregants—they came to recruit.

Multiple sources now suggest that the individuals posing as humanitarian workers that claimed to be representatives of War Child, were attempting to establish a local procurement branch of their trafficking network, using Stonebriar’s open, high-trust environment as a foothold.

Within days of their arrival, two congregants—referred to here as David and Debbie—had reportedly accepted “finders’ fees” for referring children from single-parent households. According to survivor testimony, the pair immediately began forming selective relationships with isolated women and mothers, mirroring known grooming and recruitment patterns seen in trafficking rings worldwide. Their behavior suggests they were being groomed to serve as local procurement agents — individuals who blend into communities and supply traffickers with vulnerable people.

The tactics described include:

• targeting congregants who appeared alone or unsupported

• seeking out single mothers

• offering large financial incentives

• scanning for “recruitable” women and young adults

• shifting rapidly from casual conversation to personal interest

• expressing excitement about ongoing compensation

• behaving like newly recruited local facilitators

This behavior aligns with established trafficking expansion strategies. Traffickers often infiltrate community spaces—especially churches—to identify vulnerable individuals and recruit locals to act as trusted intermediaries.

How many church members the traffickers approached, how many accepted financial incentives, and whether the network expanded to other nearby North Dallas churches remain unknown.

This preliminary report reflects early findings of DCN’s ongoing investigation.

A full, expanded investigative feature will follow.
