Devotional: “When Shepherds Fail”

0

The fall of a spiritual leader is devastating — but Scripture reminds us that God Himself will expose corruption and raise up faithful shepherds. This short devotional reflects on Jeremiah 23:1, offering hope, prayer, and perspective in a time of painful revelation.

When church leaders fall, it shakes our trust. The resignation of Archbishop Justin Welby reminds us that even the highest shepherds can stumble — and sometimes their failure leaves room for terrible harm.

But Scripture reminds us: “Woe to the shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture!” (Jeremiah 23:1). God Himself promises to expose corruption and raise up true shepherds who protect the flock.

As survivors of abuse and trafficking continue to come forward, the church must not turn away. This is our moment to pray, to stand for truth, and to believe that God is purifying His house.

Prayer

Lord, bring light into every shadow. Heal the broken, expose the hidden, and raise up leaders after Your own heart. Let Your church be a refuge once again.

Editor’s Note:

At Divine Connection News, we share these stories as reminders that God sees every hidden thing. What the enemy intends for harm, the Lord can use for healing and redemption. As you read, we invite you not only to seek truth but also to lift up survivors, communities, and nations in prayer—asking God to restore what has been broken.
